According to a report by the US' KPHO
news, male and female teens are utilising vodka-soaked tampons to get drunk potentially putting their health at risk. But is it true or urban legend?
Teens are supposedly soaking a tampon in alcohol and inserting it in their rectums or vagina, a school resource officer told the KPHO news. This way alcohol is absorbed directly into the bloodstream through the membrane walls, which Dr. Lisa Masterson, co-host of talkshow The Doctors says will "literally destroy the vagina."
This method has many potential dangers, Dr Dan Quan from Maricopa Medical Center told KPHO news. "It's problematic because you don't really know how much you're going to absorb."
"If the person does pass out or lose consciousness, health care professionals won't necessarily know that they have to look in those areas and that may delay treatment," Quan said.
It's been claimed that reports of young people using tampons to get drunk quickly are nothing more than an urban legend. What do you think?
