Cancer death mum leaves wish list for sons

, Prev Next

A UK woman diagnosed with terminal cancer wrote a list of 100 instructions for her two young boys and husband to read when she died.

Kate Greene, who died in January this year after a two-year battle with breast cancer, left a long list of things to do for her husband St John and sons Finn, 4 and Reef, 6, the Daily Mail reported.

Included in the list are instructions never to smoke, ride motorcycles or join the armed forces as well as more whimsical requests like to find four-leaf clovers.

Mr Greene was also instructed to find another wife and settle down again, as well as to teach the boys to respect women.

Mr Greene said that towards the end both he and his wife knew her time was up.

"One night she became really frightened she wouldn’t make it through the night, we stayed up chatting and at about 4am we drew up the wish list of things I had to do with the boys," he said.

"Before I knew it, there were over three sides of A4."

Mrs Greene's diagnosis wasn't the first time the family was forced to deal with cancer.

When Reef was just a baby, he was given a six percent chance of surviving a tumour in his abdomen.

Doctors told the family that Reef would likely never walk because of the damage the chemotherapy and surgery did to his leg nerves.

But despite this, the cancer went into remission and Reef made a full recovery.

tomorrow we all die, so a timely reminder to do the same for ourselves.
Ever mum wants whats best for her kids and knowing that she will not be there to love and guide them as they grow is such a hard thing to deal with BUT knowing you can leave them your wish list for them and that their Dad will still be there to love and guide them,A dad is a dad but a MOM will a mom is someone who is just so special. My thought are with all children who have lost their mom.SO love your Dad cause next to Mom he is the best.
I understand this. It brought back my own mums death letter which we found almost impossible to read out to the family. It was so raw and loving and dad, my sister and brother will never forget it. It demonstrated the love and sadness for mum that she will not be here to watch over and guide and enjoy our lives as we go through life. My God I miss her. I wish all the very best for that family and can only say that their mum is still there with them, she is just not to be seen, thats all.
I lost my mom to breast cancer and it all just happened so fast that we never had time to think of the furture for me 19, my brother 17 and my dad 46 years old. Mum was 41 and always said when she yelled at us to learn how to cook, clean and do laundry that she wasn't going to be around for long and we needed to learn how to do these on our own. Mum was always in hospital with her back injuries but never for cancer or anything life threatening so we just blew that comment off. The cancer came and she went and now my dad 51 has a few months to live due to Prostate Cancer, I think this is a great idea for him to leave list of do's and don'ts as he has been the only grandad in our childrens lives. My heart goes out to Mr Greene, Reef and Finn but i am sure this will show how much Kate loved her family and that she will always take care of them although no matter where she and that she is still the boss!! Take Care All
